Industry Insight: One-step PERT/PEXA Thermal Insulation Pipe Lines Resolve Insulation Layer Eccentricity — A Self-developed Technical Breakthrough by Qingdao Huashida Machinery Co., Ltd.
07 17, 2026

PERT and PEXA thermal insulation pipes can be manufactured in endless continuous lengths, feature straightforward field welding, and minimize the risk of pipeline blockages from construction debris. These advantages make them widely specified for municipal heating networks, industrial fluid conveyance, domestic hot water systems and residential district heating projects, resulting in strong market demand worldwide.

However, conventional manufacturing workflows consistently suffer from thermal insulation layer eccentricity. This recurring defect drastically lowers finished product yields and inflates overall production costs, a well-documented technical limitation that has long plagued the plastic pipe manufacturing industry.

Traditional production relies on a discontinuous two-step process with physically separated operational stages. This fragmented setup prevents sustained, accurate control over pipe concentricity. To overcome this pervasive industry challenge, Qingdao Huashida Machinery Co., Ltd. assembled a dedicated in-house R&D team to conduct independent technical development, launching its new-generation integrated one-step PERT/PEXA thermal insulation pipe production line engineered to directly mitigate extrusion eccentricity.

Per technical documentation published by Qingdao Huashida, the line’s core competitive advantage is its proprietary flow-coating thermal insulation flow-guiding sizing technology. This innovation rethinks conventional production methodology by consolidating multiple discrete processes — inner pipe conveyance, pipe surface corona activation, continuous polyurethane foam pouring and O-type outer jacket extrusion coating — into a single unified station. The design enables seamless one-step composite forming, fully replacing the segmented, stop-start two-step manufacturing approach and addressing a critical domestic gap in high-performance intelligent one-step thermal insulation pipe equipment.

The full production system incorporates a Huashida proprietary PLC fully automated control platform, paired with a three-point synchronized positioning assembly consisting of extrusion die head, sizing tank and hydraulic web corrector. The system delivers precise closed-loop temperature regulation for the carrier pipe and executes dynamic 3D centering calibration prior to polyurethane foaming. Final dimensional tolerances of finished pipes fully comply with prevailing national standards, effectively eliminating eccentricity at the source of production.

Benchmark testing against legacy two-step equipment demonstrates that Huashida’s one-step line doubles throughput capacity while sustaining a consistent finished product conformance rate exceeding 98%. PERT/PEXA pipes extruded on this line deliver a balanced set of performance benefits: elevated temperature and pressure resistance, superior thermal retention, extended corrosion-free service life, economic operational costs, eco-friendly material formulation and simplified field installation.

Formal technical evaluation awarded the one-step PERT/PEXA thermal insulation pipe production line the Second Prize of Shandong Provincial Science and Technology Innovation Award. Independent third-party assessment bodies verified that the complete process technology achieves internationally advanced performance benchmarks.

Since commercial launch, dozens of domestic and international pipe fabricators have visited Qingdao Huashida’s manufacturing campus for on-site technical audits and equipment procurement discussions. To date, Huashida’s integrated one-step lines have been exported to Russia, Belarus, Uzbekistan, South Africa, Egypt, Thailand and other markets under the Belt and Road Initiative. Domestic pipe manufacturers based in Shanxi, Ningxia, Gansu, Liaoning, Jilin and other Chinese provinces have also invested in the equipment for full-scale commercial production.
