Guided by market demands and backed by its High-End Equipment Expert Workstation, Qingdao Huashida Machinery Co., Ltd. has newly launched a high-speed 3LPE anti-corrosion steel pipe production line whose technical performance rivals equipment made in the United States and the Netherlands. Fitted with an intelligent management and control system, this unit delivers an anti-corrosion processing capacity of up to 800 square meters per hour.
3LPE (three-layer polyethylene) represents the dominant process for pipeline anti-corrosion. Conventional production lines generally achieve an output of 200 to 250 square meters per hour. However, this productivity fell short of a project requirement from Saudi Arabia. A customer inspection delegation headed by an American chief engineer in his eighties challenged Huashida to lift the line’s anti-corrosion speed to 800 square meters per hour while maintaining cost-performance parity, bringing its process and technology on par with U.S. and Dutch counterparts.
The American chief engineer brought with him technical specialists from nearly half of his Asia agents, including engineers from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Pakistan, India, the Philippines and China. Each specialist was assigned a dedicated process module: power systems, extrusion systems, transmission systems, shot blasting rust removal systems, anti-corrosion coating systems and more. The team’s scale and finely divided job responsibilities were extraordinary. They conducted a full-scale audit of Huashida’s design capability, R&D strength, manufacturing workshop and after-sales service team, alongside systematic due diligence on all component suppliers. Their inspection left no detail overlooked — right down to the machining standard of a single screw.
Market demand sets the trajectory for R&D and manufacturing. Driven by this stringent customer requirement, Huashida organized a special technical breakthrough team led by the chief expert of its Expert Workstation. After more than a year of intensive development, the equipment — once deemed “impossible to realize domestically” by Chief Technical Engineer Zhou Kaitian — has now been successfully rolled out. It fully complies with API, EN and ISO international standards, with multiple technical and economic indicators reaching world-leading levels.
Huashida’s proprietary 3LPE anti-corrosion steel pipe production line overcomes a host of longstanding industry bottlenecks surrounding large-diameter pipe winding: operating speed, running stability, coating adhesion and full automation. Key advantages include low energy consumption, eco-friendly emissions reduction and minimal failure rates. The whole machine adopts an intelligent PLC linkage control system for stable operation, enabling one-step integrated processing covering rust removal, heating, extrusion coating and cooling. With a single-line throughput of 800 m²/h, its efficiency is 2 to 3 times the industry average.
